Barre Sculpt to Perfection

Our BARRE class is a 60 minute "BARRE BOOT CAMP" that guarantees a beautifully sculpted body that is strong, energized and lithe. We use light weights to shape arms, cardio-based barre work to shape thighs and glutes and power up your heart and lungs, Pilates ab work to develop strong, flat abs and all muscle groups are lengthened with appropriately sequenced brief yoga stretches. You will feel your body changing after your first class and you will see your beautifully sculpted physique begin to emerge by your eighth class. Practice a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 times a week to attain your perfected physical form. The more you practice, the quicker your results will be achieved. This is a demanding class but worth every minute if you focus on results and it definitely gets easier with regular practice. Our GENTLE yoga classes are for both the beginner and for anyone who is looking to release a tight, hard and / or stiff body in a gentle manner. Proper alignment principles are taught so you can move (if you wish) into our Level 2 & 3 classes with intelligence and confidence but you may also choose to simply enjoy what this class has to offer without "moving on." Staying with "LEVEL ONE GENTLE" classes and gently exploring the poses offered in this class provide many with "just the right amount of yoga" needed for their particular needs.

Our CHAIR YOGA class is designed specifically for anyone who feels they are - in some way - "mobility impaired." Got a compromised spine or super stiff joints? "Bad" knees or hips? Are you part of the Boomer Generation and not too steady on your feet? Join us in our weekly Chair Yoga class to reinvigorate your body with the Life Force you deserve to be energized by! If you feel chronically physically impaired in some way this class is meant for you and with regular attendance you will thank yourself for giving it a try. We must all "use it or lose it" so why not "use "it in a safe and effective manner with expert guidance in a "no judgement" atmosphere? Our INTERMEDIATE classes introduce yoga poses that are a bit more challenging but not "crazy challenging!" We do so by offering appropriate modifications with or without the use props such as blocks, belts and blankets. Proper alignment techniques are taught to help each person execute a pose for the health of the the spine and joints. As we know, all bodies are the same - and yet very different depending on many factors: genetics, lifestyle and age to name the most basic influences. At Shakti, we focus on the person doing the pose (not the pose doing the person) to produce the most desirable healthful effect on each person. Join us for "LEVEL TWO INTERMEDIATE" classes if you are in need of a challenge in your practice but want to ease into that challenge with a strong dose of common sense!

Our Yoga THERAPEUTIC class focuses on addressing physical "ailments" with extensive use of props to achieve proper (read: healing) physical alignment. This class is suitable for the beginner through advanced practitioner - anyone who wishes to explore the vast world of yoga healing techniques. The studio's "yoga wall" and various props including chairs, blocks, belts, barre, balls and blankets will be used to explore how to release tension in the body that may be causing physical distress.

The first 45 minutes of this class is a "YOGA CHALLENGE" format and the second 45 minutes employs use of our "YOGA WALL" to passively and enjoyable traction out tightness and stiffness in the body using straps attached to our yoga wall. Note: this is not aerial yoga but rather a very accessible approach to releasing stored up tension in the body by knowledgably working with gravity and straps bolted to our yoga wall in a safe and effective manner.
